Tỷ lệ sử dụng rượu bia ở Việt Nam hiện là 43,8% (Nam giới 77,3% và Nữ giới 11%) (Kết quả được Bộ Y tế công bố ngày 07/09/2016 trong Điều tra quốc gia yếu tố nguy cơ bệnh không lây nhiễm năm 2015 tại Việt Nam - SPEPS).

Tổ chức nghiên cứu về Ung thư thuộc tổ chức Y tế thế giới đã công bố thêm 8 loại ung thư liên quan đến thừa cân và béo phì Ngày 25/8/2016, Tại  thành phố Lyon Pháp – Một đánh giá được thực hiện bởi tổ chức nghiên cứu ung thư (gọi tắt là IARC) đã kết luận thừa cân/béo phì là yếu tố nguy cơ đối với nhiều loại ung thư hơn so với công bố trước đây. http://www.iarc.fr/en/media-centre/iarcnews/2016/handbook16_iarc2016.php
